چکیده

Combining animation and global illumination constitutes a real challenge in computer graphics, especially when light sources move in a complex scene because the entire illumination has to be recomputed. This paper introduces a new algorithm, based on the Galerkin method, which efficiently computes animation sequence with any moving surface -even light source. For each new frame, we take into account the continuous property of the movement to determine the necessary energy differences between the previous global illumination solution and the new one. Based on a mathematical development of the form factor, this new approach leads to an efficient and simple algorithm, similar to the classical progressive refinement algorithm, and which computes animated sequence about three times faster.

Wavelet Methods for Radiosity

The computation of radiosity ( W m ), i.e. power per unit area, on a given surface is a widely used technique in computer graphics to solve for the illumination in an environment. Radiosity is governed by an integral equation which arises from a more general integral equation known as the rendering equation [18] when one assumes that all reflection occurs isotropically. Solving the underlying i...

Iterative Methods For Fast Radiosity Solutions

In applications involving the radiosity method such as computer animation, time is a crucial factor. This report shows that iterative methods which converge in a smaller number of iterations do not necessarily solve the radiosity system of linear equations in a faster way. For high average re ectance environments is introduced a method that converges faster than any standard method presented in...

Numerical Integration for Radiosity in the Presence of Singularities

The radiosity method for computing global illumination in Lambertian environments requires the computation of form factors. These are given by integrals for which some closed form solutions exist. In general however the integrals need to be approximated numerically. Various schemes have been proposed for this computation. Most of these are based on proximity assumptions which break down when su...

Wavelet Radiosity: Wavelet Methods for Integral Equations

In this chapter we will explain how wavelets can be used to solve integral equations. The example we use is an important integral equation in graphics, the radiosity equation. The radiosity equation governs the transport of light between surfaces under the assumption that all reflection occurs isotropically. The resulting integral equation is linear and can be analyzed as a linear operator. Sin...

Shifted Chebyshev Approach for the Solution of Delay Fredholm and Volterra Integro-Differential Equations via Perturbed Galerkin Method

The main idea proposed in this paper is the perturbed shifted Chebyshev Galerkin method for the solutions of delay Fredholm and Volterra integrodifferential equations. The application of the proposed method is also extended to the solutions of integro-differential difference equations. The method is validated using some selected problems from the literature. In all the problems that are considered...
